November 20, 2010. 8 lbs 14 oz. 21 3/4 in.
One of the best days in the world.
Micah was due November 16 but didn't want to come out. I thought my water broke on November 14 so I called my parents and told them we were going to the hospital but I'd call them to let them know for sure when I found out. Well, it didn't break but my parents decided to come up anyways. It was great having them here and getting to spend time together. My doctor took me out of work starting on my due date. I was going to be induced Saturday, November 20 if he didn't decide to come first. On November 18 we got a phone call that another mom that was supposed to be induced on the 19th went into labor and they had an opening.
So on November 19, we woke up and went to Chick Fil A for breakfast with my parents. I kept telling everyone not to tell me what time it was because I was scared to know! We got to the hospital around 8 and had me fill all the paperwork out. Around 9:40 the pitocin was started. I don't know the exact time they broke my water but I think it was around 12 or 1. I was already 3 cm for a couple weeks so I thought it would go by pretty fast. I wanted to try and do it with no pain medicine. When they checked me and I was only 5 and in so much pain I got an IV pain medicine (Nubane I believe). It didn't seem to do anything with the pain, just made me dizzy. An hour later I was checked again and had only made it to 6. My doctor said I could wait another hour and be checked again but suggested the epidural because it didn't seem like I was relaxing enough through the contractions to let my cervix dialate. I had the anesthesiologist talk to me because I was scared about getting the epidural but couldn't imagine going the rest of the way with nothing else. I went ahead and got the epidural and it didn't hurt at all! It numbed my right side but I could still feel contractions and move my left leg really well so they sent someone else back up to put more medicine in it. Thank God for the epidural it was marvelous! I actually slept and was able to text and everything. I don't know why I didn't get it earlier but now I know for next time.
An hour later they checked me and I was between a 7 and 8. An hour later 9, and an hour later it was time to push! Micah was still pretty high up so we did some pushing to try getting him down. After about 30 minutes with no change she had me change positions to try and help him come down and she let me sit there for about 45 minutes. When she came back we started pushing again and ended up doing that for about 3 hours. She actually called the anesthesiologist because she thought I needed a c-section but I really didn't want one so she tried using the vaccuum to help get him out. It came off twice but finally he came out!
Since he was in the birth canal so long R didn't get to cut the cord they just rushed Micah over to get looked at. After a few minutes they brought him over to me. It was so amazing being able to hold my little boy. I couldn't believe he was inside of me for so long! I had some clotting in my uterus to so that was fun..but I'm so glad Micah is here he has changed our lives so much. He is the best blessing God could have given us.
